The Rise and Fall of the Hair-donut-crown

The sock-bun, the top-knot, or whatever else you want to call it. Many of us have been striving to achieve that perfect donut shape atop our heads. There are tools and products galore to help us reach this goal but some how half of us end up unsure why our hair will not transform in a voluminous poofy bun with the aid of a rolled sock or a store bought version.

I apologize, but this is not a tutorial to give you the skills to achieve this glorious bun. But rather it is a commentary on "Why should you be trying to?"

To put it frankly: I believe the time of the top-bun has come and is now going. I now desperately want to edit a photo of Tom Cruise to give him a sock bun…

Anyways! I'm not saying that this bun does not have its purposes for certain occasions. Buns have been around forever and will continue to be a classic style. But please ladies, can we at least stop sticking them smack on top of our heads and trying to make them as huge as possible!?

Geez! I feel like my head would be aching…

There are so many more hairstyles that are up and coming. Braids are big this year as we all know! And I'm hopping on that bandwagon! I'm also on the bandwagon of wearing your hair in it's natural state because it's beautiful and so much easier! Just walk around like Mary-Kate and Ashley lookin' all tousled and stuff! 

I'm sure some readers are saying, "What!? No! The giant top bun is my jams!" And I'm just saying try something new, if you want to keep this trend around quit wearing it out!
